Why Dames du Paradis or the Ladies of Paradise?
In a nearby hamlet called Paravis, a vast ruin holds the secrets of a lost convent where many ‘dames’ or young noble ladies cloistered there for safety in the violent and disruptive Middle Ages. Think of a commune for wayward girls from wealthy families.
Some years ago, on a meditative walk around the remains of the towering stone walls of Paravis, Tamsin and Kate were inspired to invite other creative women together for conversation, some tea—and cake, of course. Today, as they each continue their separate creative lives in quiet and thoughtful ways, these modern dames create a virtual community of spirits living separately yet together, bound by their invisible cloistered walls.

Biographies of Two Dames
Tamsin Jardinier coaches creative entrepreneurs seeking authentic representation as they follow both their ambition and their passions. Tamsin works as a yoga teacher and retreat host, photographer, designer, and potter. She shares her charming hillside house with two loving hounds, Edie and Lucien, and continues to walk the small chemins of the French countryside.

Kate Hill, writer, cook, and ‘modern elder’ recently retired from 30 years of teaching cooking in France and has transformed part of her 18th-century home, the Relais de Camont, into a creative residency and a quiet place to work for other writers and creatives. Her working potager and orchard sits alongside a slow-moving canal fiercely guarded by a silly Chica dog and a pair of wily cats.
